CANBERRA GIRLS’ GRAMMAR SCHOOL
A Future Built on Opportunities
Principal: Susan Just
At Canberra Girls’ Grammar School, we believe that educating our students is about providing an environment in which they can be stimulated to achieve their potential – in whatever they set out to do.
Canberra Girls’ Grammar School, the oldest independent day and boarding school in Canberra, opened with 9 students in 1926 and celebrated 82 years of education in 2008. From the time that a student enters the Early Learning Centre and throughout their years at the Junior and Senior Schools, we give attention to developing a love of learning and a sense of belonging to a community. We encourage our students to value the opportunities that are made available to them in pursuing not only their academic studies but their interests in a range of co-curricular activities.

Canberra Girls’ Grammar School is proud of its heritage and its uniqueness. Our school is situated within view of Parliament House and our students have access to national institutions. History is not only those occurrences of the past, but our country is changing each day and many of those changes begin in Canberra.
Canberra has a dynamic and diverse population. Students of our school meet peers from a wide range of cultures. Their own families exemplify life and work in a global community. Our rural boarding students bring to our school those attributes and skills which are quintessential to the Australian character. This blending of cultures and backgrounds brings a uniqueness to our school and opportunities for the development of resourceful and ethical young people who will have opportunities to shape their global community in the future.

Excellence through Academic Achievement
Canberra Girls' Grammar School is one of Australia’s leading independent schools and is renowned for its academic excellence and its breadth of curriculum. The School aims to empower each student to achieve their potential and develop a passion for lifelong learning. This love of learning is evidenced by the strong academic results consistently achieve.
In 2007, our Dux of the School achieved a Universities Admission Index (UAI) of 99.65. Of our graduating students of 2007, 70% achieved a UAI of 80 or above, 40% achieved a UAI of 90 or above and 24% achieved a UAI of 95 or above. These results are a great credit to our students and reflect the dedication of the teaching staff and the School’s commitment to its continuing pursuit of excellence.

Developing Life Skills
The pastoral support received by all students within the School reflects our view that we play an important role in the development of life skills such as self-confidence and a sense of belonging to a community. Our Heads of Houses, Tutors, teachers, Chaplain and School Counsellors form a strong support network for the students as they grow and develop.
We are justifiably proud of our students and those who leave us as confident young people with aspirations to undertake further studies and make their mark upon society. We invite you to visit us and discover what Canberra Girls’ Grammar School can offer.
