Our college aims to establish a Christian community of students, parents and staff in which gospel values and priorities are encouraged and practiced. This spirit is taken into the wider community through service programs.

As the only independent secondary school in Whyalla, Saint John’s offers enrolment to catholic students and students of other faiths who desire a Christian education.

All students participate in the religious education program including the Christian living camps. A home commitment to religious practice is required. We recognise the primary role of parents in the education of their children and accept the responsibility to liase with parents. There is an absolute need for home and school to work together in setting the example of Christian living, worship and regular prayer.

Pastoral care of students in care groups is the principal responsibility of the care group teachers. Every child in our school knows that at least one significant adult person is personally concerned for his or her well-being. The care group teachers endeavour to relate personally to their students and to assist them in academic, emotional and behavioural concerns. Various forms of counseling and support are provided.
