THORNLIE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE

Learning for Life

Our History

Thornlie Christian College is a ministry of Thornlie Church of Christ that grew out of a vision held by its members to establish a Christian school based on Christian principles. The goal of the College was and is to offer a quality education where students learn the importance of academic performance, a balanced spiritual life and self-discipline. It is from this that we derive our motto, “Learning for Life”.

As an overtly Christian College we place a great emphasis on “doing life” in a manner that reflects well on God.  In real terms this means that:

·          We seek to develop in each student the capacity to do the best that they can by using the talents with which they have been blessed.
·          We cultivate an environment in which respect, courtesy, consideration and empathy are the norm rather than the exception.
·          We acknowledge the right of every student to learn in a positive, nurturing and encouraging environment as well as the right of every teacher to be able to teach in a positive, focussed teaching environment.
·          We enjoy celebrating the successes, achievements and personal victories that mark the life journeys of each of our students.

·          We provide our Senior Students with 3 Pathways from which to choose:
o         Our TEE Pathway prepares students for university entrance,
o         Our VET Pathway prepares students for TAFE Entrance and/or Alternative Entry into University and Employment.
o         Our MINISTRY Pathway prepares students who intend going into Ministry or Mission work.

·          Finally, our College Vision Statement directs us to send young adults out into life equipped with the Godly principles, skills and values required to become the next generation of responsible, effective citizens and leaders.

Affiliation

The College is affiliated with Christian Schools Australia, a national association of Christian schools that provides fellowship, support and advocacy for member schools. CSA member schools provide an education that seeks to establish in students a practical understanding of how the Christian Faith applies to life, through the integration of Biblical teaching in the curriculum.
