The Digital Education
The aim of the  Digital Education Revolution (DER) is to contribute sustainable and meaningful change to teaching and learning in Australian schools that will prepare students for further education, training and to live and work in a digital world.

Review of Online Curriculum Resources
To support the Digital Education Revolution, and specifically the aim of developing world class online
curriculum tools and resources, in April 2009 the Australian Government commissioned Curriculum
Corporation to undertake a review and audit of online curriculum resources available for use in
Australia Schools.

The resultant report (June 2009) provided information on the number and type of online resources
available to the different stages of Australian schooling, specifically focusing on the key learning
areas of English, science, mathematics, history, geography and languages. In August 2009,
Curriculum Corporation commenced a companion research project focusing on the Arts curriculum area.

“Putting it simply our aim is to help our fellow Australian scientists and cancer stem cell researchers to
find a cure for cancer by giving them grants that accelerate the expedition of breakthroughs”, foundation
director, Angie Cleone said.

We want to reach as many people as possible nationwide. It is important for all Australians now and for
future generations that the profile of this research is elevated. Unlike embryonic research, Cancer stem cell research is the new frontier on the laboratory floor.

Many scientists suggest that cancer stem cell research is the quickest way to finding a cure.
The scientific community at large acknowledges that more research and tests are required before they are
able to develop the much awaited cure.

‘Current treatment for cancer is highly invasive and difficult. But it is stem cell research that is arguably
the most convincing route to a cure’ Ms Cleone said.

Integral to this success is funding research that investigates every aspect of cancer stem cells –
in the laboratory, during and after treatment, determining risk factors, and adopting preventative behaviours.

For A CURE Foundation, unlike other charitable organisations, guarantees that 80% of the funds it raises
are actually redistributed directly back into the science laboratories. We work closely with the Lowy Cancer
Research Centre and The University of NSW, for the benefit of all Australians.
