NEWLAND COLLEGE

Newlands College is a state, co-educational, uniformed school that caters for Year 9 to Year 13 students. The school has a safe, caring and supportive environment with a reputation for striving for excellence.

The school's ERO Report (2004) has confirmed this. It states that "students present themselves well, and are friendly, courteous and welcoming....they feel safe in the school's environment".

The report goes on to say that, "the overall quality of teaching in the college is very good" and that "students respond positively, showing high levels of engagement and on-task behaviour".

Our school places a major emphasis on academic achievement and we offer a high quality education that stresses both breadth of opportunity and the pursuit of excellence. The school has a long history of academic success and high levels of performance in national external examinations.


Newlands College has a strong culture of pastoral care and guidance. The school values honesty, courtesy, discipline, diligence, and care and concern for others. We expect our students to develop and demonstrate such attributes.

We believe that our students should also participate in a balanced curriculum that includes co-curricular activity. Extensive programmes in both the performing arts and sport are offered, where our students often excel.
