Grace College provides fully catered, safe and independent accommodation for more than 180 young women every year, while they complete their studies at the University of Queensland.
Established in 1970, Grace College's name was chosen to reflect two main themes. Firstly, grace is a special quality that characterises a life of freedom, dignity and strength lived in the generous service to others. Secondly, God's grace is an undeserved favour and is the reason for our hope.
The college motto - My Grace is Sufficient - is drawn from the Bible and specifically, Paul's second letter to the Corinthians in which he shows he is able to persevere in the face of difficulties, because God's grace was sufficient for him. After asking God three times to remove his problems, God said to Paul: "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
The Grace College coat of arms (pictured) depicts a purple passion cross with fleur-de-lis points on a silver lozenge shape, which in turn surmounts a red shield. In heraldry, the lozenge or diamond shape was associated with women, while the cross represents Christianity. The fleur-de-lis symbolises Jesus Christ.
We also offer facilities to host overnight conferences & seminars.
