The Mater Hospital Special School is an Education Queensland facility serving day students and hospitalised children from Preschool to Year 12 at the Mater Children's Hospital, the Mater Adult Hospitals and the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The school is on the ground floor of the Mater Children's Hospital with internal access to the wards by a bank of lifts and external access from Stanley Street. There are three classrooms, a kitchen area, a resource centre, a technology room, a main reception area and Principal's office. All classrooms open onto a grassed outdoor play area.
