Principal: Ms Vicki Brewer
Established
in 1963, Castle Hill High School is a large co-educational high school set in
leafy, landscaped grounds and located in the north-western suburbs of Sydney.
Our
school is committed to “Challenging Minds,
Building Character”, a philosophy that
underpins our strategic plan and daily pursuits, and aims to guide students to
become confident, emotionally healthy critical thinkers ready for the workplace
of the 21st Century. Castle Hill High School encourages teaching and learning
for this new age, and we support this with a rich and varied academic program
that supports all abilities across years 7 to 12, and utilises a range of
technologies and pedagogical approaches.
We
prize academic excellence in all fields and guide our students to exceptional
results year after year. Along with the traditional subjects offered by Maths,
Science, English, Languages, Design and Technology, Computing and HSIE
faculties, we offer a strong Creative and Performing Arts Program in Visual
Arts, Drama, Dance and Music, and our dynamic sporting tradition has earned us
a regional reputation for exceptional sporting achievement.
To
extend and challenge our students, there are a range of extra-curricula
activities including an annual school musical production, art club, chess club,
film club, debating, concert and rock bands, public speaking, a Creative and
Performing Arts Showcase night and annual overseas study tours for languages.
Our
commitment to “Challenging minds” is
accompanied by a similar commitment to “Building Character”. We view
supporting the emotional needs and development of our students as they journey
through adolescence a fundamental part of our role. We have a Head of Welfare
with a team of dedicated learning support staff. Our belief in the importance
of building resilience in teenagers is demonstrated through our Resilience
Program, shaped to meet the changing demands and concerns of students in Years
7 to 10. Year 7 students also participate in Ethics classes to assist them in
forming the right decisions as they traverse their teenage years.
Castle
Hill High School expects a high standard of behaviour, underpinned by an
Anti-Bullying Policy that was shaped by students and staff. Our students’ behaviour
is governed by the idea of “Care of Self, Care
of Others” and
this ensures a safe and engaging learning environment for all.
