Wellington is a large co-educational state secondary college (Years 7-12) located in the City of Monash approximately 24 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD. The College enjoys a very positive reputation in the local community and overseas. It provides a caring, quality education program for over 1800 local students from the Mulgrave, Springvale, Noble Park, Dandenong North, Keysborough and Westall areas, together with over 90 International Students from China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and India. It has well established traditions and values of Student Leadership, Service, Sporting and Academic Performance as encapsulated in the “Wellington Way”.
and Middle School, Students study an inclusive Core Program based on the Victorian
Curriculum and, where necessary, are provided with additional Literacy/Numeracy
support. The Year 9 Curriculum provides special interest activities and
increased study choices through the Global Citizenship: Connecting With Our
World program. At Year 10 students study semester length
electives alongside the essential core subjects and
approximately one third of the cohort study a VCE subject. The College has a
large VCE program for the Senior Students but also offers VET and VCAL
accommodate the varied interests of the students Wellington offers an
extensive co-curricular program: musical ensembles & bands, inter-house and
the inter school sports and cultural competitions, a theatrical production, a
presentation ball, social service activities, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and
a variety of special interest clubs.
facilities at Wellington include a modern multi-media library and a full range
of specialist rooms. All classrooms have a 21st century
learning focus. Other key features include two gymnasiums, Humanities,
Science and Language wings together with
centres for Three Sub Schools, Technology, the Visual
Arts and Performing Arts, including the 288 seat M. J. Putrino Theatre. In
2013, we were very proud to open our Wellbeing Centre, incorporating student
wellbeing, (including a visiting doctor) and pathways services for
our students and their families. In 2014 we opened a state of the art
International Centre. Wellington provides plenty of room for active play on the
ovals or multipurpose, all weather courts and quiet conversation areas in
sheltered, landscaped courtyards.
The school is currently in the midst of its exciting master plan building project for the new admin 21st century teaching spaces due for opening in May 2019.
