High school for years 7 - 12 Monaro (pronounced "Mon-air-o") is located in Cooma and provides secondary public education to the area well know as the Snowy Mountains. Students who attend the school live in Cooma and the eight surrounding towns and villages - Adaminaby, Berridale, Bredbo, Dalgety, Jerangle, Jindabyne, Nimmitabel and Numeralla.

It is truly a regionally comprehensive, coeducational public high school! The school is a learning community that emphasises the principles of motivation, humanity and society - MHS.
