Located in a region covering more than 500,000 square kilometres, Pilbara TAFE provides education and training services to people living and working in an area which boasts some of the world’s largest open cut mines, ore deposits, oil and gas reserves, railways, ports, pastoral leases and cattle stations.

With over 30 distinct languages being spoken by Indigenous people in remote communities and Pilbara townships, and with industry attracting workers from all over the world, Pilbara TAFE’s client base is incredibly diverse and culturally rich.

Pilbara TAFE’s lecturing staff travel throughout the region to deliver training onsite in Aboriginal communities, some being located in very remote areas including those along the Canning Stock Route and in the Great Sandy Desert. Whilst the Pilbara region has some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia, its tropical weather conditions bringing cyclones and floods, its arid and often inhospitable terrain with temperatures soaring into the 40’s and 50’s and its population centres located many hundreds of kilometres apart, getting the training to the people rather than getting the people to the training is paramount to the long term success of the college.

We also offer External Studies through our Flexible Delivery program and our Indigenous Services Unit is available to provide students with assistance with educational needs.
